ABOUT THIS EDITION

The original idea, back on a map.

This 2026 HTML reconstruction returns to the visual language of the original 2022 Processing prototype: a dark El Paso outline, colored building cores, material halos and connecting lines. It is newly written software, not recovered source code.

The default collection contains the 60 names in the original visualization workbook, matched to the reconciled 203-entry dataset. The outline is traced from the archived presentation for visual continuity; individual building positions are newly distributed by postal group and are not geocoded.

The new connections join consecutive entries of the same type in recorded construction order, with alphabetical ordering for ties. Lines do not imply physical links, influence or a recovered Processing algorithm. Other and unresolved postal labels remain separate.

Additional archival descriptions are included wherever the surviving workbook provides them; absent information is not inferred. The workbook contains 205 rows, reconciled to 203 distinct names after merging two repeats. Conflicting fields remain unresolved. These can be buildings, additions, plans or multi-building commissions. Negative listing labels do not establish absence of historical recognition.

The interface is developed against WCAG 2.2 Level AA as its target, with additional motion controls. Native controls, keyboard navigation, text equivalents, non-drag map controls and reduced-motion support are implemented. Playback starts only on request. Automated checks cover data and control logic; desktop browser interaction and responsive layouts at 390 and 320 CSS pixels have been checked. Physical phones, screen readers and formal accessibility conformance remain unverified.

Target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA (opens in a new tab), plus controls for interaction animation. This is an implementation target, not a certification of full conformance.

Tab moves between controls. Arrow keys move within tabs or map points. Enter or Space opens a point; Escape closes dialogs. Map pan buttons and the building selector provide alternatives to dragging and small points. The Data view provides textual records and CSV export.

Color pairs, data, preference states and source markup have automated checks. Desktop interaction and responsive layouts have been checked. Physical-phone, screen-reader and full conformance testing remain pending.
